You Are Amazing
You Are Amazing
Hello! Today's cards were inspired by a few challenges: Sunday Stamps' Sketch Challenge #272, Color Dare #475 (I chose the 3 colors of red, green and pink) and Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes With Dies December Challenge. In addition, these cards are part of the "homework" for Altenew's Easy Die Cutting Techniques, part of the process to meet the requirements of Level 1 of Altenew Educator Certification Program.
Supplies used:
- Stamps and Dies: Altenew's Floral Halos Stamp and Die bundle as well as Our Friendship Blooms Stamp ad Die bundle
- Ink: Twilight and Rainforest VersaFine Clair, Catherine Pooler Party Dress ink
- Watercolors: Altenew's Watercolor Brush Markers from the Spring Garden set (Autumn Blaze, Limeade, Rubellite), Tropical Fiesta set (Crimson, Lime), and Autumn Festival set (Cotton Candy)
- Paper: smooth white cardstock and watercolor paper in my stash, light green foil paper in my stash
- Washi tape: Altenew's Many Dots Washi Tape, a very old Altenew very wide gold and white washi tape
- Gansai Tambi Starry Colors Watercolor set
- Sequins in my stash
- Embossing Powder in my stash

Card #1
I started this card by stamping the main
floral image from the Our Friendship Blooms stamp set with Twilight VersaFine Clair ink and heat embossing it with embossing powder. I then used Altenew's Watercolor Brush Markers to color
it--Rubellite and Cotton Candy on the lily; Autumn Blaze, Crimson and
Cotton Candy on the other flowers, and Lime and Limeaide on the leaves and stems.
After the watercolor dried, I die cut it with the corresponding die and
set it aside.
Next, I stamped a sentiment from Altenew's Floral Halos
stamp set with Catherine Pooler's Party Dress Ink on some smooth white cardstock, heat embossed it, and die cut it with one of the circular
dies in the set. I added a gold border with Gansai Tambi gold watercolor
and the added random splatters of gold watercolor onto the circular die
cut.
To assemble the card, I added a piece of Many Dots washi tape from
Altenew along the majority of the length of a mini slimline card base to mimic the sketch,
crossed it with a piece of sparkly white washi tape a little below the
center of the card and then glued the sentiment to the card base. The
floral image was added to the card using Altenew's Instant Dimension
Foam tape. Finally, some sequins were added to the card--two large red ones in the upper left corner for the dots on the sketch, and three stars on the bottom right (within the circle of the sentiment) for the three xs in the sketch.
Card #2
I
wanted to make a second card for the sketch and same colors. This card was created with Altenew's Floral
Halos stamp and die set--a new-to-me-set that I had purchased recently and was excited to try. I started this card by stamping all of the different floral images with with Rainforest VersaFine Clair and heat embossing them.
The flowers were again colored with Altenew's Watercolor Brush Markers in Crimson, Lime, and Limeaide. After this dried, I die cut the floral images with the corresponding dies. I then die cut a piece of light green foil paper with one of the circular dies in the set.
The
sentiment came from the same set and was stamped with Catherine
Pooler's Party Dress ink and heat embossed with more of the Holographic
embossing powder. The sentiment was then cut out with the same circular
frame die and ink blended the edges with the same ink. I then directly
inked the circular frame that was cut when I cut the sentiment and then
heat embossed it with more Holographic powder.
I added a very old
piece of Altenew washi tape on a mini slimline card base to again mimic the sketch. I then glued
the light green circular die cut to the upper left part of the card and
then glued the bottom floral image over it and added the upper floral
images with Altenew's Instant Dimension foam tape.
The dark pink ring was glued to the card
base. I glued several layers of scrap cardstock behind the circular
sentiment die for dimension and then gluing it to the card in the pink
frame.
To finish the card, I added some white sparkly washi tape
to the left of the sentiment, splattered Party Dress ink mixed with
water and gold watercolor over the card and added some sequins.
