Dots and Stripes
Dots and Stripes
Hello! I love making cards that allow me to use up some things leftover from previous projects, and this card allowed me to use up two! I was inspired by the Little Red Wagon's Challenge #633 (dots and stripes) so I sharing this card there as well as over at Tuesday Morning Sketches' Annual Anything Goes Challenge.
Supplies used:
Stamps: Hero Art's Succulent Bouquet stamp and die set
Dies: Hero Art's Succulent Bouquet stamp and die set, Gina K's Master Layout 2 die set
Paper: Patterned paper in my stash, watercolor paper, ink smooshed paper in my stash
Altenew's Watercolor Brush Markers from the Tropical Fiesta Set, Autumn Festival Set and Spring Garden set
Embossing Powder: Ranger's Copper embossing powder
Tim Holtz's Sentiment Label Stickers
The Crafter's Workshop's Terre Verte Stencil Butter
Vicki Boutin's Kaleidoscope stencils
Sequins: Catherine Pooler's Santa Fe sequin mixes
Washi tape
When deciding what this card was going to look like, I started by going through some of my patterned paper and backgrounds to see there were any I wanted to use in this project. Two caught my eye- a piece of green patterned paper that I had added Terre Verte Stencil Butter to with one of the stencils from Vicki Boutin's Kaleidoscope stencils and a piece of ink smooshed pink paper that I had then ran through my die cutting machine with the leftover Terre Verte leftover which gave the reverse of the original pattern in spots. I decided that I wanted to use these two panels for this card, so I die cut them with the two largest dies from Gina K's Master Layouts 2 die set and set them aside.
After stamping the succulent image from Hero Arts, I heat embossed it with copper embossing powder and watercolored them with my Altenew watercolor brush markers. After the watercolor had dried, I die cut the image as well as two additional layers of scrap cardstock, and glued the three layers together for dimension and then set them aside to dry.
To assemble the card, I added 3 pieces of washi tape across the white card panel--one with orange and pink stripes, one with green stripes, and a sparkly white one. I then added a sentiment label sticker. Next, I glued the succulent image to the card panel and added some sequins from Catherine Pooler's Santa Fe sequin mix. The whole white panel was glued at an angle to the green panel so that we can see more dots before gluing the whole thing to an A2-sized base.
