Getting a Head Start on Valentine's Day
Getting a Head Start on Valentine's Day
Hello friends! Today's card continues to find me working on my Valentine's card stash, especially to donate them to Valentine's for Seniors, which I heard about from Bring Smiles to Seniors an organization I love donating my cards to. This card was inspired by a few challenges this week: Shopping our Stash #459-Tripple Treat (I have 3 heart stickers and 3 pieces of washi tape) and Sunday Stamps Sketch Challenge #270
Supplies used:
Stamps: Simon Says Stamp's Abstract Triangles cling stamp
Dies: Birch Press Design's Dahlia Heart layering dies (I used layer A and B only, but there are 3 layers). This die is retired, but can be found at places like Frantic Stamper, Gina K's Master Layout 2
Ink: Catherine Pooler's Coral Cabana ink
Paper: Patterned paper in my stash
Gina K Design's Gold Sequins Fancy Foils
Deco Foil Toner Sheets from iCraft from Therm O Web
Washi tape: gold sparkly tape, floral tape, very wide gold patterned washi tape (from Altenew?) in my stash
Spray: Festive Flamingo Shimmering Bliss
Gansai Tambi Starry Colors watercolor set
Glitter heart stickers
Altenew's Instant Dimension Foam Tape and Liquid glue
I started this card by literally shopping my stash. I am still trying to move into my craft room as I am busy with work, lazy and would rather spend my time crafting than setting up my room so there are a few piles of materials strewn around. I had the triangle strip of paper (ink smooshing and then stamping with Simon Says Stamp's Abstract Triangle stamp) left over from some previous project from the ancient past, and thought that it would be a perfect fit for this card sketch.
I then pulled out two layers of the Dahlia Heart dies (layer C was hiding in the chaos and got to work. The bottom layer was created out of the same pink patterned paper that was used for the background panel. After die cutting the paper, I sprayed it with Technique Junkies' Festive Flamingos Shimmering Bliss Spray and left to dry. I die cut a piece of Toner sheet with the top Dahlia Heart layer and then added Gold Sequin fancy foil with my laminator. Once the bottom layer was dry, I glued the two heart layers together and set them aside.
I die cut the background panel out of some pink patterned paper in my stash, and then started adding the strips to mimic the sketch--the leftover triangle strip, gold sparkly washi tape and floral washi tape. I glued the hearts over the strips with liquid glue. Then I cut out the sentiment which was a part of an old paper pack in my stash and fussy cut it. Then I ink blended around the edges with Catherine Pooler's Coral Cabana ink and then directly stamped the edges with more Coral Cabana. I then painted the edges with gold watercolor from the Starry Colors watercolor set and set it aside to dry. After it had dried, I attached it to the card panel with foam tape. I then decided to add 3 sparkly heart stickers in my stash to the card for a little extra glitter. Finally, to finish the panel, I splattered some more of the Starry Colors watercolor.
To finish the card, I added one piece of very wide washi tape to a white A2-sized card base and trimmed the excess. I then attached the pink card panel with more foam tape.
