Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!

Hello friends! Today card was a real stretch for me and I am particully proud of the results (although while making it, I was really struggling to make everything work). It was inspired by a few challenges: Craft Roulette #84, Die Cut Divas' October challenge (anything goes with a die cut), AAA Birthday Challenge #30, TGIF Technique Challenge #339, Seize the Birthday Challenge #225

Craft Roulette Parameters:

Project: Slimline landscape

Colors: Orange background

Element: Jar or glass

Random: 3 layers

Supplies used:

To make the card, I started out by creating the background layers. I grabbed a piece of Yupo paper and created an orange alcohol ink blended background with all of the alcohol inks listed in the supply list as well as some Isopropyl alcohol in my house.  As it dried, I added some waste foil (Gina K's Sparkling Silver fancy foil) from a previous project to add a little more sparkle. Then I cut out the background with the larger die from the Pink & Main die set. While the alcohol ink was drying, I stamped the Lily Fields stamp from The Ton onto a piece of heat resistant acetate (I was using this for the glass parameter) and then heat embossed the image with Wow!'s Metalline Flame powder and then die cut the whole thing with the smaller panel die from the Pink and Main set. I glued both layers together with liquid glue on the  left side (where the flower would eventually go) and set it aside to dry.

Next, I turned to the flower. I die cut a piece of white cardstock with the base die and then ink blended the two Zig markers with the bright yellow on the edges and the pink haze blending into the middle of the panel. I then ink blended the whole thing with Spun Sugar Distress Ink and sprayed it with Dazzle Shimmering Bliss Spray and set it aside to dry. Next, I die cut a light pink piece of patterned paper with the next layer up and sprayed that layer with more of the same Shimmering Bliss spray.  The next layer was a darker pink (actually a sparkly envelope liner) that I die cut and then finally the top layer was cut from a piece of gold foil. THe leaves were cut with light green foil paper. After all of the layers (5 layers! on the flower) had dried, I glued them together and then glued some glass beads from the Scranton sequin mix in the center of the flower. This was set aside to dry.

The sentiment was from the Clean Line XL set stamped with the Frost VersaMark Dazzle ink on a piece of smooth cardstock and heat embossed with more of the Wow! Metalline Flame powder. I then die cut the sentiment with the corresponding diecut and set it aside.

To assemble the card, I added more glue behind the acetate where the sentiment was going to be placed and then to help the two layers stay together, I added a piece of pink and gold washi tape across the acetate layer. I then added the flower and sentiment with Instant Dimension foam tape from Altenew and placed them onto the card panel. Sequins from Catherine Pooler's Scranton sequin mix was added to the card and splatters of gold watercolor from the Starry Colors set were added as well. Additional dimensional tape was added behind the card panel and was placed on a slimline cardbase in a landscape orientation.
