Hello friends! Today's cards were created for a few challenges: Simon Says Stamps' Wednesday Challenge (anything goes), Retro Rubber Challenge #168, Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge #415 and Try Stampin' On Tuesday Challenge 526.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Backyard Bird Friends by Brandi Kincaid from Essentials by Ellen (Hutson), a Magenta? company stamp from 2002?
Dies: A stitched circular die from my stash, Gina K's Master Layouts 2 die set, Honey Bee Deckle Edge A2 die set, Altenew's Striped Leaf Cover Die set
Stencil: Picket Fence's Rainbows Slim Line Stencil
Ink: VersaMark Dazzle ink, Chipped Sapphire and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink
Embossing powder: Wow! Embossing powder Metallic Gold Sparkle, Ranger Holographic embossing powder
Embossing Paste: Green Envy Nuvo Glacier Paste
Sprays: Technique Junkies' Dazzle Shimmering Bliss Spray
Paper: Smooth white cardstock, patterned paper in my stash
Liquid glue and Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape
Sequins: Retired sequin mix from Trinity Stamps
Before I started to make the card, I decided I wanted to use the following options for the Tic-Tac-Toe: Something that flies, foliage or trees, and circles. I decided to create a stencil with Altenew's Striped Leaf cover die and use it to add Green Envy glacier paste and some Metallic Gold Sparkle embossing powder to create my own patterned paper for one of the shapes in the sketch challenge. After adding the glacier paste, I sprinkled Metallic Gold Sparkle embossing powder randomly around the leaves and then heat embossed them. Then I used my ancient stamp (the background squiggly lines and dots on the light green paper) possibly from Magenta stamps which has a copyright date from 2002 to enhance the background. I repeatedly stamped the background across the green paper with VersaMark Dazzle and heat embossed some areas with more of the Metallic Gold Sparkle and others with Holographic embossing powder. I used one of the medium-sized deckle rectangle dies from the Honey Bee set and die cut the leaf patterned paper I had made earlier and then glued it at an angle over the light green paper to mimic the sketch. I then used the largest rectangular die from the Gina K Master Layout 2 die set and die cut the whole thing to form the background panel for the card.
I then turned my attention to the center of the card. I colored branch stamp from the Backyard Bird Friends stamp with some of my Zig markers. Then I stamped over the colored outline with more of the VersaMark Dazzle ink and heat embossed the image with more Holographic Ink. I repeated the process with the bird and then colored in both images with the same colors of Zig markers that I had used on the stamp itself. I then repeated the process one more time with the sentiment. Next, I die cut the image with a circular stitched die in my stash. At this point, I decided that this was too plain, so I pulled out my Rainbows Slim Line stencil from Picket Fence and colored behind the bird with my most pastel/light Zig markers in a rainbow of colors. I then ink blended around the circle with Peacock Feathers and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks. Finally, I sprayed some Dazzle Shimmering Bliss Spray over the whole circle and let it dry.
Next, I started to add layers behind both the circle and card panel. Using scrap cardstock, I added 2 layers of behind the card panel to add dimension. A gold border was added to the panel by directly inking the VersaMark Dazzle ink around the edges and heat embossing with more of the Metallic Gold Sparkle powder. I then glued the whole thing to a light green card base. I then added a second layer of paper behind the circle die cut for a little strength and then added foam tape behind both layers and placed the whole thing onto the card panel to mimic the sketch. To finish the card, I added some sequins from Trinity Stamps.
