Craft Roulette #79
Craft Roulette #79
Hello friends! Craft Roulette is a weekly live YouTube crafting event where host Mary Gunn and a crafty guest create a card using the 4 randomly-selected parameters. Episode 79's parameters were:
Project: Funn flap card
Colors: Your favorite 3 colors
Element: Under the tree
Random: Crinkle Inkle
- Stamps: Hero Art's Bird and Branch Christmas
- Dies: Altenew's Nesting Frames die set, Essentials by Ellen (Hutson) Birch Trees Cover Plate by Julie and Twirling Flurries by Julie, A2-sized rectangular stitched die
- Inks: Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers and Chipped Sapphire, Versamark Frost Dazzle ink, VersaFine Clair Twilight Ink
- Paper: White smooth cardstock
- Sequins: Catherine Pooler's Maui mix
- Gems: Honey Bee Stamp's Prism Gem Stickers
- Spray: Sparkly spray in my stash
To create the card, I started by using an A2-sized stitched rectangular die to cut out a piece of white cardstock. Then I ran that rectangular panel through my die cutting machine again with the Birch Trees cover plate. I then directly inked the edges of the panel (the frame or border) and the snowy hill with Versamark Frost Dazzle ink and added Snowflake Tinsel embossing powder 3 times. I then used some of my Zig Markers to color the trees and then used more of the Versamark Frost Dazzle ink and Holographic embossing powder to the bottom and top thirds of the trees to add more sparkle to them.
Next, I cut out another piece of cardstock and misted it with water. I added Nuvo Shimmer Powder (in purple and blue--two of my favorite colors) over the water and let things dry. After this had dried, I used the Twirling Flurries die to add some detail to this panel. I then ink blended a little of the Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink to any part of the panel that was still white. I then glued the two layers (the sky and trees) together with liquid glue. I then added some Prism sticker gems from Honey Bee Stamps to cover a few of the holes in the die.
Then I worked on the sentiment. Since this was where I would incorporate my Funn fold, I decided to create a folding sentiment. I folded a piece of cardstock in half so that both halves were a little bigger than the Altenew Nesting Die I was going to use. I cut both layers of cardstock with the nesting die so that the very top didn't cut the paper so that the two layers stay together on a hinge. I then stamped two different sentiments from the Hero Art's Bird and Branch Christmas stamp set--one on each layer--using the VersaFine Clair Twilight ink and then heat embossing them with Holographic embossing powder. I then inkle crinkled both layers with some Peacock Feather Distress Ink (my 3rd favorite color). (Inkle crinkle is a Craft Roulette term where you use a crumpled piece of paper to stamp ink onto your project. I then ink blended over both layers with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink and then sprayed some sparkly spray in my stash over the top layer. I then added this folded sentiment foldery thingy to the card with foam tape under the tree.
To finish the card, I attached the whole panel to a light blue cardbase with more foam tape and then added sequins from Catherine Pooler's Maui sequin mix around the card and on the sentiment.
