Enjoy Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #435
Hello friends! Today I am happy to share my first design as a Design Team Member for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #435.
I am starting to feel the shift from summer to fall as I start work again (I am a high school teacher) next week and so decided to lean into that feeling and make a fall card. I am slowly moving back into my craft room after an extended time away due to a construction project, and trying to organize myself along the way. This has given me the opportunity to re-aquatint myself with stamps and papers that may have been waiting for love. As I planned this card, I rediscovered my Penny Black Hugs & Cuddles stamp and die set, as well as some fall themed papers and leaf stickers.
To make the card, I stamped the fox from the Hugs & Cuddles set with Twilight VersaFine Clair Ink and heat embossed with Ranger's Holographic embossing powder. After die cutting the fox, I colored her with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. Next, I die cut a piece of multi-colored leaf patterned paper with a square die in my stash and sprayed it with Hero Arts's White Iridescent Shimmer Spray and let it dry. I then repeated the process with an A2-sized stitched rectangular die and cut out the orange background of the card and sprayed it as well. After the square leaf paper dried, I lightly ink blended the border with Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide ink using a foam blender. Then I directly added some ink around the edges of the orange rectangular background paper and heat embossed some Copper embossing powder from Ranger.
The sentiment comes from Honey Bee Stamps' Enjoy stamp and die set. I die cut the word enjoy with Concord & 9th's copper glitter paper (part of the Summer glitter pack) and added two layers of die cut scrap card stock behind it for dimension and strength. I stamped the sub-sentiment with Delicata Dark Brown Ink and heat embossed it with more of the Holographic embossing powder and cut it into a strip. I then ink blended with more of the Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide around the edges of the sentiment.
To assemble the card, I added an orange ribbon and an orange/white/gold piece of washi tape around the center of the orange background paper. The square paper was placed next with foam tape, followed by some dimensional leaf stickers that were in my stash. Next, I added the fox with two layers of foam tape to help it clear the leaves. I then added the die cut enjoy sentiment and then added the sub sentiment over it (with liquid glue and some foam tape over the parts that didn't overlap with the sparkly paper). I added a few sequins from an ancient Autumn Leaves sequin mix from Simon Says Stamps and finally added the whole thing to a white 5x7" card base with more foam tape.
I also made a second card with the same sketch inspiration, and wanted to share that as well. It was made with the same process except that the background was made with the
Moroccan Mosaic stamp from Altenew (an older stamp) that I had created with ink smooshing. I ended up ink blending around the edges of the background paper and sub-sentiment with Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide.
