A Sparkly Christmas Card!

A Sparkly Christmas Card!

Hello friends! Today I wanted to share another Christmas in July cards that I am making as the month wraps up. As I started thinking about this card, I decided to combine Simon Says Stamp's Monday Challenge (Wild with Washi) with Double Trouble Challenge #89 and Heart 2 Heart Christmas in July Challenge and Sunday Stamps Sketch Challenge #262.

This card features Simon Says Stamp's Holiday Foliage Stencil, a bunch of Washi Tape and lots of ink blending!

I started making the card by working on the circular part of the card. My stencil was sticky from a past spray of Pixie Spray removable adhesive. First, I masked off the red berries with washi tape, and then ink blended some Spruce and Sea Glass ink from Catherine Pooler. Once I did this, I realized that I wanted to take this up a notch, and so started adding some Terre Verte Stencil Butter from The Crafter's Workshop on the pine needles and then added some Gina K Iridescent Glitz Glitter Gel on the rest of the green parts of the stencil (leaves, branches, etc.). After these both dried, I went back and then colored in the red berries with my trusty Distress Marker in Festive Berries and then went over them with more of the Iridescent Glitz Glitter Gel. After the paste dried, I cut the whole thing out with a circular die in my stash. I then ink blended the edges with Lucky Clover Distress Oxide and then set it aside.

To make the sentiment, I stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment from my Simon Says Stamp Abstract Holiday stamp set with more Lucky Clover Distress Oxide and then heat embossed it with Holographic embossing powder from Ranger. I then die cut the sentiment with the larger stitched flag die from Gina K's Master Layouts 2 die set. I used the same die to cut additional pieces of paper: a piece of green and gold alcohol-inked Yupo paper and 4 pieces of scrap card stock (to glue behind the sentiment and the Yupo paper). I then glued two of the scrap die cut papers behind the sentiment and then the other two behind the Yupo paper and set them all aside to dry. Meanwhile, I pulled out the smaller stitched flag die from the same die set to cut out a piece of gold and patterned paper I had made for an additional piece of flair! Then I ink blended the sentiment with more of the Lucky Clover Distress Ink, and then glued the many layers of sentiment and other stitched flags together to add some interest. I then glued the whole thing to the bottom right part of the circle.

To assemble the card, I added some washi tape onto a dark green card base. There are actually three different washi tape pieces on each of the two vertical stripes--a sparkly white tape, sparkly gold tape and a marbled white and shiny copper marbled tape. I added foam tape behind the circle and then added the circle to the card base to mimic the sketch. Finally,I added some gold sequins from the Catherine Pooler Vegas, Baby! sequin mix to finish the card.
