Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #427

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #427 Hello friends! Today I wanted to share the card I created for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #417 , which was a great stashbusting card!   This card features a lot of die cutting! I used a circular die from my stash,  one of the wreaths from Altenew's Weekend Doodle stamp and die set, a small circular die from Memory Box's Wrapped Circle die set, Gina K's Master Layout 2 and Concord & 9th's Fresh Cut Florals Dies Edition 3 .   To make the card, I pulled out some patterned paper and cut the 2 pieces of background papers with Master Layout 2's largest rectangular die and then glued them together. To create the circular sentiment, I used the circular die cut twice-- once with some alcohol-inked Yupo paper, and once with some turquoise paper I had made with my gel press. I inlay the turquoise letters into the alcohol inked die cut. I then glued the whole thing onto the background patterned paper.   Then I used som

Hello to Color Throwdown #648 & Freshly Made Sketches #491  Hello friends! Today I wanted to share a card I created with the Color Throwdown #648 and Freshly Made Sketches #491 challenges in mind and for my second assignment in the Easy die cutting techniques class at Altenew Academy.     The Altenew class assignment focused on using a die as a stencil, so I cut the Doodled Dots die from Altenew with some cardstock and used it as a stencil for my background. I decided to divide the background into fourths for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge, and to include all 4 colors for the Color Throwdown challenge and ink blended with 4 Distress Oxide inks: Kitsch Flamingo , Wilted Violet , Carved Pumpkin , and Twisted Citron . Then I cut it with it with the largest rectangle from the Gina K's Master Layout 2 die set and ink blended around the border of the the panel.   Next, I stamped the larger flower image from Altenew's Starry Flowers set with VersaFine Claire in Morni

Time Out Challenge #190

Image
Time Out Challenge #190 Hello friends! This card was inspired by Time Out Challenge #190 's photo. I really love the bright stripes on this building and want to move in. I decided to focus on the bright vertical stripes, the light blue (stripe) on the floor of the image, and the tropical plants. The first aspect of the card I wanted to work on was the stripes. I used my  Peek-Through Patterns stamp set from Concord & 9th and a a rainbow of  Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to create the striped paper. Using my MISTI, I colored the stamp with three different markers and stamped a piece of white cardstock. Then I moved the paper and repeated the process with three additional colors two more times. I then cut out the stripes with the smaller stitched rectangle die from  Gina K's Master Layout 2 and then set it aside. Next, I started working on mimicking the plants. I have recently brought Altenew's Tropical Jungle stamp and die into my life, and love it! The images

Two birthday cards for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch

Image
Two birthday cards for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch My daughter is going to a few birthday parties and so I decided to make one with the sketch for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge #426 . As I was planning the cards, I decided that I would use some of the washi tape that I have hoarded in my crafty space. I also decided to use my Party Panda (from 2018?) stamp and die from Lawn Fawn for the current Lawn Fawnatics Challenge (#103) and Retro Rubber Challenge #161 . My daughters are super excited about cupcakes at the birthday party and consider them a summer treat! And since this is a birthday card, I decided to share this at the Addicted to Stamps and More birthday challenge (#408) Here are the two cards that I made. My daughter helped me color the sentiment on the card for her friend. Both cards were made in a similar process: I stamped the party panda and her accessories (the cupcake, bamboo and heart word bubble), the presents  from the Cheery Christmas set from Lawn Fawn and

I stamped the wreath with Catherine Pooler Grass Skirt and heat embossed it with Holographic embossing powder from Ranger. I then ink blended  the image very lightly (with the residua

A panda party birthday card!

A panda party birthday card! So my daughter is going to a few birthday parties and we needed a few cards for her friends. Today's card was created with a few challenges in mind: Tuesday Morning Sketches #661 and the current color challenge from Just Add Ink (#560) and decided to use my Party Panda (from 2018?) stamp and die from Lawn Fawn for the current Lawn Fawnatics Challenge (#103) . And since this is a birthday card, I decided to share this at the Addicted to Stamps and More birthday challenge (#408)   To make the card, I stamped the party panda and the cupcake from the Party Panda set VersaFine Claire in Morning Mist and the sentiment from the Happy Happy Happy stamp and die set in Catherine Pooler ink in Sea Glass . I then heat embossed all of them with Holographic embossing powder from Ranger. I then die cut the panda, cupcake and the word happy with their corresponding die cuts. Today's card features the Sweet Friends stamp and die set from Lawn Fawn as well as my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers   and Gina K's Master Layout 2 die set.  To create the card, I stamped the froyo 3 times, the s'more twice and the strawberries (they are stamped in groups of 3) twice on a piece of white cardstock with VersaFine Clair Ink in Twilight ,  heat embossed them with Holographic embossing powder from Ranger, and die cut them with their cooresponding die cuts. I then colored them with my Zig Markers with the froyos exclusively in red, white and blue while the s'mores were a variety of browns. Next, I stamped a sentiment from the same Sweet Friends set in Twilight ink and heat embossed with more of the Holographic embossing

Altenew's June Challenge

Image
Altenew's June Challenge Hello friends. This month's Altenew color challenge parameters are light blue, brown and yellow. Yet again, a challenge made me try something that I wouldn't have considered, and I was so glad that it did! I decided to use Altenew's Moroccan Mosaic stamp set as a background and Leaf Canopy stamp and die as the focus of this card.   When I started thinking about the card, I knew that I wanted the background to feature the brown and yellow colors of the challenge, and then to use blue for the focal part of the card. I stamped  the Moroccan Mosaic in VersaFine Clair Ink in Acorn and then heat embossed with Ranger's h Holographic embossing powder. I then ink smooshed a variety of yellow and (to a lesser extent) brown watercolors mixed with a little water from Altenew's Watercolor Brush Markers and then poured some Nuvo Shimmer Powder in Solar Flare (for a little extra yellow-y sparkling goodness). I then sprayed a powder with a little

Crazy 4 Challenges #589

Image
Crazy 4 Challenges #589 Hello friends! I created a card today for Crazy 4 Challenges #589 and Global Design Project #297 . Concord & 9th had a great moving sale a few weeks ago and I bought a few new stamps and dies, and decided to use one of them for my card today:  Fresh Cut Florals Dies Edition 3 . What a great set. It was really fun to die these flowers, and I made some extra flowers for another card....I don't have these actual colors, but I tried to find papers (or make them) that matched them. After I finished the card, I also decided to share this card at Happy Little Stamper's June Stencil and Dies challenges. Let's get to the card.     As I said above, I used my new Fresh Cut Florals Edition 3 die cut set. I decided to use a piece of paper that I had sprayed in the past with Dylusions Shimmer Spray in Crushed Grape for the larger, dark purple flower. Next, I die cut the paper 4 times and then decided to ink blend some Wilted Violet Distress Oxide over pa

Modsquad Challenge: Masculine Card

Image
Modsquad Challenge: Masculine Card Hello friends! Today's card features the Type Talk stamp set and coordinating die set and some paper strips fro my stash. I toned down the sparkle for this card to make it a little more masculine so I could share over at the Modsquad challenge . To start the card, I stamped the typewriter and the sentiment on a piece of white cardstock with VersaFine Clair Ink in Twilight . I heat embossed both the sentiment and the typewriter with clear embossing powder.  Next, I colored the typewriter with a few of my blue Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and my Gelly Roll Metallic pen in silver .  Then I turned to die cutting. I die cut the typewriter using the coordinating die and then cut a hole in the image using a tiny rounded bar die found in the set so that I can make the sentiment peek out of the typewriter. I then die cut the sentiment using the die that looks like a piece of paper. Next, I turned to Simon Says Stamp's Strips 2 die set t
