Addicted to CAS Challenge #198: Ombre

Addicted to CAS Challenge #198: Ombre Today I wanted to share my clean and simple (CAS) ombre card for the CAS challenge blog . This card is intended for a coworker and his wife to celebrate their first baby! It is also my first 6x6 square card.   To make the card, I started by ink blending some white card stock with Distress Oxide Inks in Worn Lipstick, Kitsch Flamingo and Ripe Persimmon. I then die cut out the letters needed to spell baby using Pinkfresh Studio's Kelly Alpha Upper Case die 3 times-once in the blended card stock and twice using some white scrap card stock. I then glued them together to add dimension to the letter and then set them aside to dry. Next, I pulled out my Scalloped Flowers stencil from The Crafter's Workshop and I ink blended again with the same 3 Distress Oxide Inks. Next, added some flicks of Luna Silver  from my Gansai Tambi Starry Colors watercolor set. After the panel dried, I cut it out using the Essential Squares from Ellen Hutson as w

CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #421

CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #421   Welcome! This card features the sketch from CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #421 .  I decided to take some supplies I had out from another card and use them to to make a clean and simple card.    This card features the Hero Art's Happy stamp and die set to create the sentiment, a leftover butterfly that I had made from Simon Says Stamps' Butterfly Kisses stamp and die set as well as Simon's Spring Boho Circle Stencil . To make the card, I cut out the word happy using the word die from the Hero Art's Happy stamp and die set using Brutus Monroe Glamour Gloss Stock in Wizard and then stamping the word thoughts from the same set directly to the card base with Fiesta Blue ink from Catherine Pooler. Next, I used the Boho Circle Stencil to add a little more interest to the card.I used more of the Fiesta Blue ink on the stencil, but some of the purple from a past project came along for the ride, so it ended up being moe of

A Thank You Featuring In-Focus Floral Frames

A Thank You Featuring In-Focus Floral Frames This card was created for two challenges: Color Throwdown #644 (focusing on gray, black, yellow and white) and Tuesday Morning Sketches #607 . Here is my card:       I pulled out a gray piece of paper out of my stash and cut it using the second-largest rectangle from the Gina K Master Layouts 2 die set and glued it to a white A2 card base. Next, I pulled out a piece of alcohol-inked Yupo paper that I had made previously featuring yellow inks and some gold. I die cut the Yupo paper twice with the In-Focus Floral Frames die. I also die cut it again twice more in some white scrap paper. I added one layer of the white die cut paper behind the yellow for a little dimension but also to make it a little more sturdy. I then glued both of the floral circular dies on both the right and left sides of the center of the gray rectangle.  I then stamped one of the sentiments from Julie Hickey Design's Mandala stamp set using some VersaFine Claire I

Emma's card for Craft Roulette!

Image
Emma's card for Craft Roulette #63 My daughter Emma wanted to get in on the fun of  Craft Roulette this week! The parameters for this week's card was: Project : 6 inch sketch card (Emma chose the sketch that looks like a checkerboard) Colors : Cool colors Element : Car or truck Random: Envelope   Emma chose to use the same stamp set that I did (because it was the only car/truck stamp in our home. She enjoyed using some patterned paper from my stash and die cut them with Pinkfresh Studio's Diagonal Stitched Squares die. She then stamped the food truck from a very old stamp set from Hero Arts. She then went back and used Hero Art's Happy stamp and die to die cut the main sentiment with green sparkle paper from my stash as well as stamp the secondary sentiment on a piece of what ecardstock.. We used one of the stitched flag dies from Gina K's Master Layout 2 die set to cut out the secondary sentiment.

Craft Roulette #63

Craft Roulette #63 Craft Roulette is a weekly live Youtube crafting event! Usually Mary and a guest crafter are given 4 randomly selected parameters to use when making a card, but this week we were treated to watching 3 guest crafters. Episode 63's parameters were:  Project : 6 inch sketch card Colors : Cool colors Element : Car or truck Random: Envelope   This card features a stamp set from Hero Arts that I bought from Collage (my local craft store many years ago) that features iconic images and phrases that are Portland-specific including this food truck. It was the only car or truck stamp in my collection, so I went with it! Here is the card that meets the parameters: This card is 6x6, and was an attempt to use one of the two sketches that Mary gave as options. I decided that since I was having to go retro for the stamp that I would lean into it and use a retro die for the accent paper and so pulled out my Sizzix Honeycomb Frameworks Border die. I die cut the hexagon frame

Modsquad Challenge Blog: Under the Sea Challenge

Image
Modsquad Challenge Blog:  Under the Sea Challenge The current Modsquad Challenge theme is Under the Sea, and I pulled out my Altenew Goldfish Pond stamp and die set to get to crafting!  I created this card by stamping the Goldfish Pond stamp set with VersaFine Clair in Nocturne and heat embossing with them  Holographic  embossing power from Ranger (from Collage , a local craft store in Portland). I colored the images with  Zig Clean Color Brush Markers (both directly coloring the images as well as using the markers to watercolor). I then cut out a piece of Yupo paper that I had previously colored using a variety of blue and green alcohol inks with one of the larger Memory Box  Wrapped Circle dies.   I glued the alcohol ink background to a blue card base, and then added the stamped images using some foam tape.To finish up the card, I added some black gems from Honey Bee Stamps and stamped a sentiment from the Goldfish pond stamp set in the corner using some Jet Black StazOn Ink.

Sunday Stamps Challenge #257

Image
Sunday Stamps Challenge #257 Today's card was created using Sunday Stamps Challenge #257 a color challenge featuring coral, orange, a creamy yellow, a blue and a bluish-gray. Here is the image that inspired the challenge:    I used this challenge as an opportunity to open up a Catherine Pooler's Kind of Wonderful stamp set and the coordinating die (called Three of a Kind ). It had been waiting to be used for a while, and I was so glad I opened it!    I started making this card with some alcohol inks in coral, sapphire blue, gumball , gold and snow cap (really a mixative). After the background dried, I die cut it with the Wrapped Circles Die from Memory Box.  Next, I stamped the main image from the Kind of Wonderful stamp set (the word kind) on some card stock using some Mediterranean Blue Tsukineko Brilliance ink and then heat embossing it with  Ranger's Holographic Embossing Powder . I then die cut the sentiment 3 times with the coordinating die cut and glued them to

Just Add Ink Challenge #555

Image
Just Add Ink Challenge #555 Today I am excited to share another card that I made as part of a challenge. It has been fun trying to stretch my creativity to fit the parameters of challenges and have helped me create cards I would not have made otherwise. Today, I wanted to share the card I made for the Just Add Ink Challenge #555 which is a color challenge.  This card features Simon Says Stamps Sketched Flowers stamp and the Bold Beautiful Die from My Favorite Things. To make this card, I started with a print that I had made with my gel press with some light blue and some magenta acrylic paint. The print was cut with the smaller rectangle panel die from my Gina K Master Layouts 2 die set. Next, I stamped the Sketch Flowers stamp with some Catherine Pooler ink in Party Dress (I don't have a magenta ink, and it looks darker on the blue background). I then heat embossed the image with Ranger's Holographic Embossing Powder . I then went back and colored in parts of the image

Memory Box's Wildflower Stems

Image
Memory Box's Wildflower Stems This week's Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge (using dies and/or punches, featuring Memory Box) and the Seize the Birthday Challenge #214 (make it a bouquet!) came together in a very fun card.  I made a card featuring Memory Box's Wildflower Stems die set for a sweet card featuring a bouquet. To create the card, I used a print that I had made with my gel press that I then die cut using the Reverse Confetti Outlined Frame die.  Next I cut out the wildflower stems dies with some white card stock. I then colored the  wildflowers with some of the watercolor markers from Altenew. After the wildflowers stems were dried, I arranged them and glued them to the panel. I then decorated the bouquet with some washi tape. (I was inspired by some of the example cards of the blooms on Simon Says Stamps page that also added the washi tape embellishment.) Then I added sentiments from Tim Holtz's Idea-ology Sentiment Label Stickers and some
