Local King Rubber Stamp's Riding the Wave

Image
Local King Rubber Stamp's Riding the Wave I wanted to share three cards that I made with Local King Rubber Stamps' Riding the Wave die and stamp set. This set is so fun--I love turtles, and this stamp set features two! This is a red rubber stamp set, and made to ink up the whole image (rather than an outline) so I decided to color all three images with my  Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers . My Misti was crucial for this project so I could color a little bit of the stamped image at a time, stamp with the Misti and then repeat, adding layers of color and sometimes even adding some watercolor along the way.  Card #1: I decided to start by stamping onto a piece of patterned paper. I had a piece of paper with some light blue grid lines that I stamped the turtles onto. I decided that after I had finished coloring the turtles that the grid lines were a little too harsh, so I went back and colored the surrounding area with some blue watercolor and then added some gold splatters wit

Flower cards (Modsquad Challenge)

Image
Flower cards (Modsquad Challenge) This is my first submission to the Modsquad Challenge and I am so excited. I have recently found Tracy Shultz , and was excited to see that she was judging the challenge this week and next so I decided to take the plunge! Plus the challenge (floral cards) is something that I really enjoy.  I made three variations on the same card. The floral image came from the Mondo Wildflower set from Ellen Hutson. I stamped the floral image on a piece of white card stock and heat embossed it with Holographic embossing powder from Ranger. Next, I colored the image with a variety of  Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers . The whole panel was attached using foam tape to a piece of patterned paper in my stash that was die cut and glued to a card base. I finished up each of the cards with some gems from Honey Bee Stamps . Card #1: I used some Delicata Champagne ink to stamp the image onto a piece of card stock that already had some yellow ink smooshed onto it from an

Craft Roulette #58

Image
Craft Roulette #58 Craft Roulette is such a fun Youtube live crafting event! Each week Mary and a guest crafter are given 4 randomly selected parameters to use when making a card. Episode 58's parameters were:  Project : Fancy Fold Card Colors : Green + 3 Element : Outdoors Random: Swinking Here is my card that met those parameters: I attempted a fancy fold card and created a Z-fold card. I used a few colors of green (I inked the dandelions with Lucky Clover Distressed Oxide and background paper, and emerald ink from Hero Arts), as well as 3 other colors: teal ( Tide Pool ink from Hero Arts) , blue ( Salty Ocean Distress Ink) and purple (the hello sentiment). I included some neutrals: a grey ( Cloudy Sky from Altenew) and some navy blue card stock for the frame. The outdoor element came from the Simon Says Stamp Dandelion Messages stamp set. Finally, I swinked on the card. I also wanted to share a second card that I made that was similar but didn't meet all of the requir

Altenew's April Challenge

Image
Altenew's April Challenge Altenew's monthly challenge asks crafters to make something based on an inspirational image.I went wild and made a few cards for this challenge. I really love the color combo, the flowers, and circular background! This first two  card feature Altenew's Happy Pomegranates stamp and die set. I stamped the set using my new Delicata Champagne stamp pad and then heat embossed it with Holographic embossing powder from Ranger. (Shout out to Collage , my local crafting store where I bought my ink and embossing powder.) I then die cut out the stamped images. I colored the stamped images using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers that I then blended with some water. Next, I die cut some gold card stock using Simon Says Stamps Ring Wreath wafer die. I glued the wreath directly to a blue card base, and then added the leaves and the flowers after that. I popped up the pomegranate image with some foam tape before placing it on top of the flowers and leav

4 Cards using Altenew's Goldfish Pond

Image
4 Cards using  Altenew's Goldfish Pond I have made 4 cards using Altenew's Goldfish Pond stamp and die set and used some of my stash of papers at the same time. I had colored the fish and and plants a few weeks ago when I wasn't at home and was able to make the cards with the colored images. I had stamped a few copies of the fish and other images on some watercolor paper using VersaFine Clair Nocturne . For about half of the images, I then heat embossed the images using  Holographic  embossing power from Ranger (from Collage , a local craft store in Portland). I colored the images with  Zig Clean Color Brush Markers  and then painted over some of the fish with some of the gold watercolors in the Starry  set from Gansai Tambi. Card #1 : This card was created using a background panel in my stash. After gluing the fish, rocks and plants, I decided that I wanted to stamp one of the sentiments and the rocks from the set directly on the panel, and was able to do so without messi

Showing some stash-busting cards

Image
Showing some stash-busting cards It was a full weekend, and so this post will be short. I wanted to share a few recent cards that all are fulfilling one of my crafty goals this year--using up my large stash of patterned paper. Card #1 : I stamped the Smiling stamp set from Waffle Flower, heat embossed it and the colored with my Zig Markers. I die cut out the image with a rectangular die cut and then ink blended around the edges. The background came from a piece of orange-tinted floral paper, that I covered with a scrap of ink-blended paper that I die cut using another die cut (you can see it a little better below in the second card). I finished up the card by gluing all the layers together, adding some gems from Honey Bee Stamps and placed it all on an orange card base.   Card #2 : The process was similar. I stamped, heat embossed, and then colored with some Zig markers the Altenew Starry Flowers stamp and die set. I used two additional pieces of paper from my stash. The yellow bas

Local King Rubber Stamp's Poppy Stamp This card was a joy to make. I think it is so shimmery and pretty, and am proud of the results. The focus of the card is Local King Rubber Stamp's Poppy Stamp and die set, a truly stunning set. I started out by stamping the poppy onto some white watercolor paper with VersaFine Clair in  and then heat embossing it with Holographic embossing power from Ranger (that I picked up at my local craft store in Portland, Collage ). I used  some Tonic Shimmer Powder in Cherry Bomb , Solar Flare , and Green Parade that I mixed with water to watercolor the flower. After it dried, I cut out the flower using the matching die. I had made the background panel a while ago to use up some old Stickles Glitter Glue in both a purple and fuchsia color that I spread over a stencil. I die cut this with a rectangular die that is slightly smaller than an A2 card. I decided to ink blend some Delicata Ink in Celestial Copper around the edge of the panel and affi

Local King Rubber Stamp's Jelly Giggly Stamp

Image
Local King Rubber Stamp's Jelly Giggly Stamp I really love watching the crew on Stamp Wars, where 5 stamp-fabulous people compete to make the most amazing card using the same stamp set. A few weeks ago, they hosted a "Craft with Me" event where we were invited to craft with them. For this event, they picked out a wonderful stamp set from Local King Rubber Stamp. While I had not purchased the stamp set at that time, the owner of Local King Rubber Stamp provided a very generous discount code and since I was so impressed with the stamp sets, I had to go shopping.  Today I wanted to share a few of the cards that I made with the Jelly Giggly stamp set. It is a great red rubber stamp that could provide a background or fill almost a whole A2 card base and be the focus of the card. I made three cards, each of which were fun and easy to make, and I think rather stunning. I look forward to playing with this stamp set a little more in the few days-look out for more cards in the fut

Did I mention that I have a huge paper stash?

Image
Did I mention that I have a huge paper stash?  One of my crafty resolutions this year is to try to use some of my paper stash (instead of hoarding it). I made made three variations on the same card, each of which uses some of my paper stash and washi tape. After combining washi tape and scrap paper, I cut out the scrap paper with a heart die. I then added a sentiment ( from the Simon Says Stamp Just Because Word Mix 2 stamp and die set) and other things from my stash. I finished off all of the cards with gems from Honey Bee Stamps .  Card #2 Card #3 Thanks for reading!

Scrap paper for the win!

Image
Scrap paper for the win! I love Jennifer McGuire . She has so many creative card making ideas. One from a while ago was using scrap paper to make cards. I decided to make a bunch of cards using this technique.  Most of the strips were cut using the Simon Says Stamp Strips 2 die set. This set has 3 wider and 4 narrower strips that can be used at the same time on one piece of paper to cut it into strips rather quickly. I was able to watch some TV while die cutting a bunch of strips at once with several pieces of patterned paper that I had in my stash or leftover parts from past stamping projects. I added some sparkly or patterned washi tape (another bonus as I hoard washi tape). Most of the sentiments came from the Simon Says Stamp Just Because Word Mix 2 stamp and die set. The gems are from Honey Bee Stamps . I hope you enjoy all of the cards: Thanks for reading!
