More Stencils!

Image
More Stencils! A rhetorical question: can you ever have too much stenciling on a card? I don't think so. Here are two cards (one with two different stencils) for the Altenew Celebrating Parents Card Drive . Both cards were created using Simon Says Stamp's Geo Leaves Stencil and Nuvo's Glacier Paste in Pineapple Delight . In addition, both card's sentiment were made in the same way using Lawn Fawn's Happy Happy Happy stamp and die set. I stamped it using Delicata's Celestial Copper Ink and then heat embossing it with holographic embossing powder from Ranger . (Both the ink pad and the embossing powder were purchased through my local crafting store, Collage .) The stitched flag came from Gina K's Master Layouts 2 die set . I die cut out the word happy and the stitched flag twice so that I could glue both together for dimension. Then I ink blended the edges of the stitched flag with the same Celestial Copper ink. The Geo Leaves Stencil was featured in th

More cards for Altenew's Celebrating Parents Card Drive

More cards for Altenew's Celebrating Parents Card Drive  I spent some time over the weekend making more cards for Altenew's Celebrating Parents Card Drive .    Today I am going to share two of the cards that I made for the drive because they were made in a very similar manner focusing on some stencils and some Stencil Butter from the Crafter's Workshop. I had just picked up some stencil butter in Terre Verte and it is such a wonderful color! To make the cards, I started out by using the stencil butter with Simon Says Stamp's Tumbling Leaves Stencil on some watercolor paper. I let it dry overnight and then came back and cut out a rectangular panel using a die cut that is slightly smaller than an A2 sized card. I then added a sentiment from Lawn Fawn's Happy Happy Happy stamp and die set. I stamped it using Delicata's Celestial Copper Ink and then heat embossing it with holographic embossing powder from Ranger . (Both the ink pad and the embossing powder were

Altenew's Celebrating Parents Card Drive

Altenew's Celebrating Parents Card Drive  Today I wanted to share a couple of cards that I have made for Altenew's Celebrating Parents Card Drive . These two cards are destined to go to some parents who are living in nursing homes and can't visit with their families, especially now due to quarantining. They were made using a similar process. To make this father's day card, I stamped Altenew's Moroccan Mosaic stamp set on some watercolor paper with ColorBox Ink in Peony . I then embossed with holographic embossing powder from Ranger .   I then used some Tonic Nuvo Shimmer Powder in Cherry Bomb , Meteorite , and Blue Blitz by alternating some shimmer powder and then spraying water until I achieved the look that I wanted.I then left the powder to dry overnight.   After the image dried, I used a rectangular die to trim the background and then ink blended the edges with Catherine Pooler's ink in  Something Borrowed .  I created the sentiment using Lawn Fawn's

Turtle Botanical Stamp

Image
Rabbit Hole Stamps' Turtle Botanical Stamps Today I wanted to share some cards featuring the Turtle Botanical Stamp from Rabbit Hole Stamps. I am a big sucker for all turtle-related things, and I really loved this image when I first saw it. So I plunged in and made 4 cards featuring this stamp and a similar method.  I started by cutting out some rectangular pieces of Bristol Paper using one of the rectangular dies from Gina K's Die-Master Layouts 2 die set. I then stamped the turtle image and the sentiment using VersaFine Clair ink in Noctur ne , and then heat embossing it with holographic embossing powder from Ranger . I then colored the image using a variety of a bunch of my Zig Clearn Color Real Brush Markers in a variety of colors by directly coloring the turtle and then blending a little of the markers on the page as well (sometimes with a little water to hep with the process). I then went back and ink blended around the image using Distress Oxide ink in Tumbled Glas

Simon Says Challenge: Recycle

Image
Simon Says Challenge: Recycle So one of my crafty goals this year is to go through the utterly massive pile of paper that I have stashed away. Over the last few years, some half-finished stamping projects have found their way into the stash as well. All three of these cards have some recycled or saved element that was destined for the trash. The first card features Simon Says Stamp's Beautiful Flowers Stamp that I had colored a while ago and had not made into a card. It also features a piece of watercolor paper that had been part of a larger project and several scraps of 12x12 paper that I then wrapped around the backing paper. The second card featured more rediscovered projects and papers. Again, I had started working with this stamped image from Tim Holtz Mini Bouquet stamp set, but had set it aside (mostly because a smudge). So I finished coloring and then added some additional color around the image in pinks and flicked some blue watercolor to bring it together with the maga

Echeveria Ballet

Image
Echeveria Ballet Stencil by StencilGirl This card features StencilGirl's Echeveria Ballet stencil, a large image of succulents that allowed me to focus on a specific part of the stencil. I have made several cards with this stencil--it is really versatile. I started by creating a rectangular piece of paper using a die cut in my stash that is slightly smaller than an A2 card. Then I sprayed some Dylusions Shimmer Spray in Crushed Grape to create color on the paper. After the spray dried, I spread some Gina K Designs Gold Glitz Glitter Gel over the stencil to create the Echeveria on the card. After this dried, I thought that the purple of the spray was not intense enough, so I used two of Altenew's Watercolor Brush Markers (Ultraviolet from the Autumn Festival Set and Midnight Violet from the Spring Garden Set ). I then added die cut the Just Because die from Simon Says Stamp and CZ Design to the bottom right part of the card. I created the die by die cutting the

Another craft room score!

Image
Another craft room score! I am still trying to clean out my craft room. I am blaming the slowness of the task because I don't have very much time, not the fact that I am ignoring it. But a bonus of this task is that it is kind of like getting new stamps for free! I had created a card a long time ago using this set, but then had forgotten about it. In the crafty cleaning, I rediscovered this and got to make another wonderful card. To start this card, I used one of the rectangular dies from Gina K's Die-Master Layouts 2 die set to die cut a piece of watercolor paper that I had smooshed pink on previously. I then then stamped some Catherine Pooler Party Dress ink onto the large floral image from Concord and 9th's Filled in Florals stamp set. I then went back and stamped the edges of the same flower with Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide Ink and re-stamped the image. I then then heat embossed it with holographic embossing powder from Ranger . I then masked the flower while I s

Waffle Flower Goodness

Image
Waffle Flower Goodness I am still going through and organizing my craft room, meaning that I am reminding myself that there are stamp sets that I own that I have not used yet. Luckily, I was reminded that I have this cute stamp and die set from Waffle Flower called Smiling . It has a bunch of cute flowers as well as a two cute cats that were just waiting for me to color them. I also hope to coax one of my girls to color with it when I next pull it out since it is so cute!   To make this card, I stamped a piece of Bristol Smooth with VersaFine Clair ink in Noctur ne , and then heat embossing it with holographic embossing powder from Ranger . I then die cut the paper using a rectangular die that is slightly smaller than an A2 card size. I then colored it with some Zig Clearn Color Real Brush Markers in a variety of colors including Light Beige for the cat. I then went to my stash to find a piece of pattered paper to use with this card and found one that had a lot of the same colors a

Waffle Flower's Tower Outline Alpha Dies

Image
Waffle Flower's Tower Outline Alpha Dies I had a chance to play with Waffle Flower's Tower Outline Alpha Dies on this card. They are very versatile and very sleek. I created a background using the Fresh Citrus Bold Prints background stamp from Hero Arts, stamping it with VersaFine Clair ink in Morning Mist , and then heat embossing it with holographic embossing powder from Ranger . I then colored it with some Karin Brushmarker PRO markers . I then trimmed the image with a rectangular die cut that is slightly smaller than an A2 sized card. I then die cut the  Tower Outline Alpha Dies letter H and I three times with white card stock. I glued all three Hs and all three Is together with liquid glue. I then painted some White Gold from my Gansai Tambi Pearl Colors watercolor set. After it dried, I glued the hi sentiment to the lower right corner to colored image. I finished up the card by adding some blue gems from  Honey Bee Stamps and then flicked some more of the White Gold

Masculine Cards

Image
Masculine Cards I really struggle with masculine cards, but I think this one turned out very well. I used a Simon Hurley cling mounted rubber stamps, Timber . These stamps are so great because they are versatile.    Do you see the lines between several of the trees? This is a peel apart stamp, meaning that you can take this stamp apart into 4 parts which allows you as a crafter to have more flexibility. I used the whole  stamp for this card, stamping VersaFine Claire Ink in Morning Mist and then embossing with  Ranger's Holographic Embossing Powder on a piece of white card stock. I then colored in the trees with a variety of brown watercolors from Altenew's  Watercolor Brush Markers in three different sets ( Winter Wonderland , Tropical Fiesta Set , and Spring Garden ). I decided that the card was a little plain, so I then ink blended some of the white spaces with some leafy stencils using both Distress Ink in Rustic Wilderness and ColorBox pigment ink in Fresh Green . I

Pink and white card

Image
Pink and white card    So a while back I made a bunch of backgrounds using a variety of stencils and embossing pastes. Today's card uses one of those backgrounds. I made the background using Simon Says Stamp's Floating Leaves Slimline Stencil and Modeling Paste from The Crafter's Workshop. I die cut this paper using a rectangular die that is just slightly smaller than my A2 card size. Since I had made this background a while back and it was already dry, I moved on to assembling the card. Using a piece of white card stock, I die cut out one of the blooms from the Pinkfresh Studio's Dainty Blossoms die set one time and then colored in the blossom with a Karin Brushmarker PRO in Grass and the blossoms themselves with some leftover pink watercolor that I diluted with some Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust Shimmer . I adhered the flower to the bottom left of the card using some liquid glue.  The sentiment was made with Simon Says Stamp's Sending Smiles die. I die cut the s

Happy Mail!

Image
Happy Mail!   I made a very colorful card using Simon Hurley create's Happy Mail background stamp. I have been watching Simon's videos on Youtube for a while now, and finally grabbed some of his wonderful products. I started by stamping the Happy Mail stamp on a piece of watercolor paper with some VersaFine Claire Ink in Morning Mist and then embossed using Ranger's Holographic Embossing Powder . I then colored those fun images of envelopes and postcards using a variety of Altenew's Watercolor Brush Markers from three different sets ( Winter Wonderland , Tropical Fiesta Set , and Spring Garden ). Once this was dry, I cut out the image with a square die cut from Ellen Hutson and then used an ink blending tool to blend add some light pink (Catherine Pooler's Party Dress ) around the border of the square. I then found a piece of paper from my stash as well as a strip of contrasting paper. I wrapped the strip of paper horizontally around the middle of the pink backgr

Sending Smiles Across the Miles

Image
Sending Smiles Across the Miles I made several cards that were made in a very similar way and were all sent to Bring Smiles to Seniors which is an organization that then sends on the homemade cards to seniors. As I said, all of these cards were made using a similar method--I used embossing paste and stencils on some watercolor paper that I had die cut using a rectangular die and already had some color on it from other projects. After the embossing paste dried, I added Simon Says Stamp's Sending Smiles die. (On most of the cards, added two additional layers behind the one that you can see to make it stand out on the card. One card does have a little different look as you will see in a minute.) I then added gems from Honey Bee Stamps. Card 1: I spread some Nuvo Glacier Paste in Sea Sprite with a little bit of Gina K Glitz Glitter Gel in  Lovely Lavender (mostly on the right side) over Inkon3's Pondie stencil. The green on the card base came from Distress Oxide in Twisted C

Suzy's Watercolor Cards

Image
Suzy's Watercolor Cards I really love Suzy's Watercolor Cards -they are a quick way to provide me (or my kids) a background to color. The results can be stunning. I wanted to share a few cards that I made with some of the different sets.  This first card was made with Suzy's fruit puns watercolor prints using some Zig Real Brush markers . I used some Gansai Tambi Starry Colors to add a little gold to the pineapple and to add around the rest of the card. I added some gems from Honey Bee Stamps , and affixed the card to a yellow card base.   The second card came from Suzy's Winter Thanks set. I colored the letters, the tree and the scarf using the same Zig markers in rainbow colors. I then added some sparkly color using some Gansai Tambi Pearl Colors --the tree needles were water colored in Pearl May Green, the heart in Pearl Pink, and the hat in Pearl Lemon Yellow. While I was doing that, I smeared some  the water coloring, so to cover it I ended up painting the back
