Letterpessing and discovering new-to-me stamp sets

Dry embossing and discovering new-to-me stamp sets

I had made a really nice letterpress/dry embossed background a few weeks ago using Gina K.'s Sun Spots stencil by running a piece of watercolor paper that I had colored with some Dyusions Ink Sprays in Vibrant Turquoise. The sprayed watercolor paper had been a little damp, and when I had put it through my die cut machine to dry emboss it, the stencil got a little stuck to the paper! Luckily when I peeled them apart, I was able to do so with only minimal tearing, and on reflection, I really liked how it turned out. It was a little distressed and gave us a little rest from the vibrant turquoise.

While the background dried, I worked on the sentiment. I used the Simon Says Stamps Luck and Hugs stamp and die set and embossing it with Wow! Embossing in Aventurine. I colored in the sentiment using some Distress Markers in a variety of blue and green colors. I colored in each of the letters with one color and then going over each letter with water to blend and lighten the color. This also helped blend the two colors in the letters as they overlapped with their neighbor.

I tore some of the Lawn Fawn Pearlescent Vellum  and attached it behind the dry embossed watercolor paper (so the adhesive wouldn't show up on the front of the card), and then popped up the hugs sentiment using some foam tape and then added that to the card. I finished up the card by adding some white gems from  Honey Bee Stamps and then put the whole piece on card stock.

This was a great masculine card, something that I struggle with. I look forward to making more.

Thanks for reading!
