Mostly showing (not telling): Still working on my paper stash! I wanted to share some cards that I made using background papers that I had made previously but never used. Thanks for checking out these cards!

Colorado Craft Company's Big and Bold Snowflake

Image
Colorado Craft Company's Big and Bold Snowflake So I have become super obsessed with the Glitter Grunge Greetings Youtube Channel--Ryan has a so many great ideas. One of them was a beautiful set of cards with a bold background and a focal image of a snowflake in some really bold and beautiful colors with lots of sparkle. You can check out the video here . I decided to make my own version.  I used what I had, and was so pleased to use Colorado Craft Company's Big and Bold Winter Wishes Snowflake stamp for the first time! The three cards that I made came out wonderfully and I can't wait to make something else with this stamp in the future. Each card was created in a similar manner-- I used some Tonic Nuvo Shimmer Powder that added directly to some watercolor paper. After these backgrounds were dry, I stamped the Snowflake stamp and embossed it, attached it to a card base and then added a sentiment and some gems from Honey Bee Stamps .   This first card was created using Bl

Dylusion Spray and Stencil Backgrounds

Dylusion Spray and Stencil Circular Backgrounds   Today I want to share three cards that I made with Dylusions Sprays that I used with a few stencils that I had in my stash. Each of those backgrounds were cut with Memory Box's Wrapped Circle dies.   The first card was made with Dylusions Shimmer Spray in Vibrant Turquoise . After I had die cut the background, I added Simon Says Stamp's Warm Hugs Die using Simon Says Stamp Holographic Silver Cardstock . I popped up the whole thing using some foam tape on a black card base. I then decided that the card needed a little more, and so I added some light blue sparkly tape and some Therm O Web Gina K Designs Sparkling Silver Fancy Foils using some very thin double-sided tape. I I finished up the card using some clear gems from Honey Bee Stamps . The second card's background was created using the Simon Says Stamp's Bokeh Lights Stencil with the largest holes. I had sprayed the stencil with more Dylusions Shimmer Spray in Fu

Alcohol Ink backgrounds

Image
Alcohol Ink backgrounds My daughters and I sat down and made some more alcohol ink backgrounds because I bought a few new colors recently. I used the same background on three different cards. I used a combo of Tim Holtz Alochol Inks (Wild Plum, Gumball, Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Alloy in Statue and Pi ñata Alcohol Inks (Coral, Se ñorita Magenta, Sangria, and Chili Pepper). I then cut out parts of the design using a rectangular die. Each of those backgrounds became the basis of these three cards. For the first card, I took the card base and added the hi sentiment using Pinkfresh Studio's Kelly Alpha Upper Case die on some watercolor paper. I decided that the sentiment needed a little something so I painted it with some Gansai Tambi watercolor in white gold (from the Starry Colors set) that I mixed with a little pink from a marker. I glued the sentiment using some liquid glue. I then flicked some more of the same watercolor on the card and added some clear gems from Honey Bee Stamp

Just Because Word Mix 2

Image
Just Because Word Mix 2 One of my crafty Hanukkah presents was Simon Says Stamp's Just Because Word Mix 2 stamp and die set and I am so glad. What a great set--it has so many different sentiments and is so easy to use. One of the benefits of the stamp--it gives you so many options and leaves you with some extras for later.  I used two sentiments that I had left over (since you end up creating over 10 sentiments at once) from other projects and some backgrounds that I had made for two quick cards.  This first card was created by spraying Dylusions Shimmer Spray in Cut Grass   through Picket Fence Studio's Funky Leaves Stencil onto watercolor paper and after it was dry cutting out part of the paper using a rectangle die. I then grabbed one of the sentiments from the Just Because Word Mix 2 that I had stamped using some VersaFine Claire Ink in Morning Mist and then embossed using Ranger's Holographic Embossing Powder . Before I put down the sentiment, I took some wide was

Adding to my birthday card stash

Image
Adding to my birthday card stash Today I wanted to share some cards I made for my birthday stash. Both of them were made using some embossing paste and a die cut sentiment. I think they look great and are ready to go when I need a card for a birthday. So I created this first card using Simon Says Stamp's Floating Leaves Slimline Stencil using Nuvo Glimmer Paste in blue (the color seems to be discontinued) on some white watercolor paper. I topped the background with the Simon Says Stamps Painted Happy Birthday Wafer Die that I die cut three times: twice in white for dimension and once in Brutus Monroe's Wizard Glamour Gloss Cardstock and glued them towards the bottom right corner of the card using some liquid glue. I then added some hearts that I had from another project in the same Wizard Glamour Gloss Cardstock and some white pearl gems that I had in my stash. I attached the whole thing to a card base to finish.   This second card was made using a very similar process. I don

Using alcohol ink scraps on cards

Image
Using alcohol ink scrap paper on cards So I had made a really pretty piece of alcohol ink background paper in greens, blues and silver. I used some of the leftover pieces to make 2 more cards. The first card used two circles from the Wrapped Circles Die from Memory Box (an older set), using Tonic's Mirror Card Iridescent Cardstock in Marina Mist as a base layer with a larger circle and a piece of the alcohol ink paper using one of the smaller circles. I popped up the alcohol ink circle using some foam tape. I adhered both circles so the smaller circle's edge touches the edge of the left side of the card base. I then added a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Just Because Word Mix 2 stamp and die set using some VersaFine Clair ink in Morning Mist and embossing it using  some more of the H olographic embossing powder from Ranger .   I popped up the sentiment using some more foam tape and placed it so the edge touched the right edge of the card base. I finished up by adding

Using up my stash

Image
Using up my stash Most crafters love to have a variety of crafty materials at their fingertips. For those on the outside, that may look like hoarding. I realized how bad my craft stash was when I started organizing my office/craft area over winter break. I am not showing pictures because the hoarding is real! So one of  my goals this year is to use up some of my stash, especially paper. So whenever I have a chance, I dig through some of my paper to inspire me. A while back my daughters and I had used some paints to create a big background paper and then I had put it aside. I used some of this paper as the background for multiple cards. Card #1: Landscape layout: I really liked the pinks, blues and oranges on this part of the card. I used a stencil and some Distress Oxide in Dried Marigold to blend some small boxes towards the top of the card.  I then placed some gold and sparkly light blue washi tape across the bottom part of the card in a horizontal orientation to help the sentiment

Letterpessing and discovering new-to-me stamp sets

Image
Dry embossing and discovering new-to-me stamp sets   I had made a really nice letterpress/dry embossed background a few weeks ago using Gina K.'s Sun Spots stencil by running a piece of watercolor paper that I had colored with some Dyusions Ink Sprays in Vibrant Turquoise. The sprayed watercolor paper had been a little damp, and when I had put it through my die cut machine to dry emboss it, the stencil got a little stuck to the paper! Luckily when I peeled them apart, I was able to do so with only minimal tearing, and on reflection, I really liked how it turned out. It was a little distressed and gave us a little rest from the vibrant turquoise.       While the background dried, I worked on the sentiment. I used the Simon Says Stamps Luck and Hugs stamp and die set and embossing it with Wow! Embossing in Aventurine . I colored in the sentiment using some Distress Markers in a variety of blue and green colors. I colored in each of the letters with one color and then going over

Lucky to Know You

Image
Lucky to Know You So I pulled this background that I had made over the summer and put aside that was created glitter gel (I am sorry to say I don't remember which brand) in clear and yellow.     I finished the card by adding a  sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Just Because Word Mix 2 stamp and die set using some VersaFine Clair ink in Morning Mist and embossing it using  some more of the H olographic embossing powder from Ranger. I attached the sentiment using some foam tape and then decided to make the sentiment stand out more by coloring it yellow using a Karin Brushmarker in Canary. I then added some gold f lecks using Gansai Tambi Starry Colors watercolors. Finally, I added some gems from Honey Bee Stamps .   Thanks for reading!
